Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Prospect Update, Canucks First Road Trip of the Season After warming up against the NHL's Alberta teams to start the season, the Vancouver Canucks will be tested this week when they play three games in four nights on the road against Central Division rivals.

To be honest, I don't think Raymond has hit his stride really. He played really well against Edmonton and was full value for that hat-trick, and he made a good shot for his goal last night, but the other three points were basically nothing plays, and outside of his scoring he hasn't been all that effective. I remember watching him with the Leafs last season and seeing him as a more effective driver of play than he has been so far this season.

I don't know if that will change or if what we've seen is what we'll get. I guess a big part of how he looks comes down to how his teammates play, and Calgary doesn't have a ton of talent to support him.

Mason Raymond may be off to a nice start, but I don't think he can keep scoring at this rate for the whole season. Happens to a lot of players in the NHL nowadays.

Maybe they can turn the "mind room" into the "mono room" and lock all the prospects in there next summer.

Seems to be working out so far.

Check back with us in January to tell us how he is doing.

Cole Cassels isn't even playing on Michael Dal Colle's line while putting up all these points.

Also Jordan Subban is the top scoring D-man in the OHL.

Sure Raymond always starts fast, the problem is when things start getting physical, drive the net, go into the corners, he disappears. He has skills, but not for a playoff series.

Pefect for Calgary - last thing they need is a player who ramps up during their non-existant playoffs.

I think where he has a better shot this year (and kind of did in toronto to) is he's on lines that have speed to burn.

So him wiping to the net and crashing into the boards is almost useful. Back when he was on the canucks, he'd wipe down there and have nothing to do. Except for watch kesler play with himself.

Yet they made game of a SCF with this core.

I know you're a passive-aggressive troll, but come on man.

Raymond broke his back, even before that he was not physical.

wtf is Ek doing quashing rumours?

to see Cassels, McCann and all our prospects doing well on their respective teams.

Not sure if I am happy seeing Vey on the 4th line, was actually hoping to see him get a chance on the 2nd line and see if they can get a bit more offense going. But, to contradict myself, I have no problem with the line juggling. WD and Benning are seeing what they have and who can play with who in different situations and style of play.

What I am not sure about is if it is better that Hamhuis is in the game with hampered vision because of the full cage or if it is better to give him a little time to recover and put Corrado in the lineup.

Agree with you here, he should sit. Dallas has a lot of firepower but he is more important to this team than the 2 points on the line

I don't see how there's an risk of worsening the injury if he has a cage on though. I'd still easily take him with the cage/limited vision over Corrado.

Not his face necessarily, but he is absolutely compromised as far as being a target and being more susceptible to dangerous plays with the limited vision. Definitely a better option than Corrado but may not be a bad time to give Frankie a chance. If Hammer is going to have to wear the cage for weeks then screw it, but if it's just a game or two may as well let him take a rest

I just don't like all the excuses when the puck is lost in his skates and it turns into a turnover or scoring opportunity for the opposing team.

Is his nose actually broken, is that why the mask? why not just cut off the mask below the nose? It was frustrating last year when Burrows was going through the same thing.

Absolutely, he just needs to get comfortable wearing the cage. He is better playing than sitting, especially looking at who would be his replacement.

I don't think I heard Burrows make excuses last year, although I could be wrong.
Even though it's obvious that the puck gets lost in feet while wearing the cage, it's the announcers making excuses, or us fans.

I've seen the puck lost in Edlers feet and he doesn't wear a cage

Any news on our 9 foot tall dman playing over in the KHL?

I was just thinking about Cannuaton. I think he's as defensively sound as Sbisa and can play the PP. Another useful prospect thrown away by Gillis.

Found this from late September http://www.youtube.com/wa...c&feature=player_embedded
2 points, 15 PIMs in 18 games, is a -3 but their whole team appeared to be in the minus so not necessarily a bad thing
